The instructions for the current model presume that the paddle can be easily removed: paddle in my pre-owned BB420 is so difficult to remove that I am cleaning it in place. The paddle should wriggle free, pulling up as turning.as per instructions, next time you are successful removing paddle spray a little kitchen non stick spray on paddle rod in the bowl. Otherwise contact Breville they were very helpful. 1/2 fill the pan with hot, soapy water. Wait a little while and you can pull the paddle out easily. You really need to do this because it is too difficult to properly clean around the paddle with it in situ.

I doubt there is a lot you can do given the time that has passed.i would call Breville customer service but dont expect a great response, just hope to get hold of a nice service person.what a shame.mine is going strong years after i bought it but perhaps sitting unused in the cupboard wasnt great for the machine.hope you get some answers.
