This /:hunf: I was going to post right after this went up but didn't. If you download from TSR, you really should run that stuff through Custard.

TSR is infamous for cc that attaches to your stuff and creates abmominations in your game. It is definitely a case of 'buyer beware'. Just a little comment.I used to have a subscription to TSR and downloaded quite a bit from there. While I've heard that other people have had problems but I never had one problem with content from there. I did however download some items from the exchange here and had some really terrible game breaking problems.

Not everyone has had bad experiences at TSR. Don't get me wrong. I have downloaded from TSR. They had really nice stuff that interested me, at the time.

I hardly ever download sims from the Exchange, unless it's for a contest I run and sponsor. Especially those I run through Custard. I had and still have, on my laptop, tons of cc from TSR but did have a problem with 2 items. I didn't say 'don't download from them', I said 'beware' and 'run it through Custard'. But you should run ALL CC through Custard that you can regardless of the source. All creators are human and I believe the vast majority of corrupt CC is made through honest human mistakes.

And those handling the submission process could miss it as they're human, too. Not to mention, corrupt CC has a tendency to piggy back and do you really want to trust that they did run their Sim, house, etc through Custard? I know I wouldn't be offended if players ran my Sims that I've uploaded through Custard even though I ran them through on my end and said so. Beware of romans bearing gifts. If you download from TSR, you really should run that stuff through Custard. TSR is infamous for cc that attaches to your stuff and creates abmominations in your game. It is definitely a case of 'buyer beware'. I was having terrible lag so I ran a vanilla game and tested out the content testing each creators files in groups. What I found was despite Custard saying all my CC was ok several of the creators had content that created lag in my game. Several of the items I really wanted to keep I tested those individually out of the lag group and still had same results. Note: I used a clean vanilla file each time I tested a creators files just to makes sure it was accurate.

I have more CC then I did back then and I almost never have any lag. I just test things out more thoroughly before adding them to my main game files. I also want to add. This only applied to certain creators. I have several creators on TSR that I absolutely love their work and look forward to being able to download more of it now that it's free. Thank you so much.

I love a lot of the hair there (I'm a sim hair addict). My absolute favourite hair is Newsea's China girl. They download in mostly Sims3pack, which I don't like, but I love that Delphy has a tool to make sims3 pack's into package files. I also use Custard and Dashboard to check on new items. I do hope this open's a new era of creativity once again, and that more will share. I know some have gone off into their own (like Newsea) but I still appreciate what is at TSR. Again, thank you.

If you look at the size of the file, you can guess the lag it may cause. Try to choose the smaller sized files. Going by the size of the file alone is a good rule of thumb when choosing a download file, especially for those that already have issues with lag. However, in my situation this was not the case.

I have hair files that far exceed the size of the ones that caused my lag. My point was just be careful. Don't assume just because Custard says it's ok that everything will be just fine. Install your new CC in a vanilla game and see how it looks and runs before moving it over to your main folder.

I would rather spend the few extra minutes double checking content then download it to my original game file and trying to figure out why it's lagging and/or having issues. This will save a lot of headache and hassle later on.

Just a piece of advice. Take it or leave it.
